Any tips for playing the C string?
My C string sounds really bad

Does anyone have ny tips on how to make the cello C string sound better? I have huge issues with that string. It sounds grainy and it is hard for me to shift. I have just started playing more with shifting, but the C string is weak. 

I suspect it has something to do with my bowing,
