Don't ask me why, but I found self suddenly singing this tune in the supermarket today... Couldn't wait to get home. a) to avoid those stares and risk of being hauled away by the ASPCA and b) to grab the viola and try to bang to out. I think I did a fairly decent job if it but now wonder if anyone has the sheet music? A simple formate that I can read. What I found on google was more complicated than I dare explore...

Bach : As the greatest expert and judge of harmony, he liked best to play the viola, with appropriate loudness and softness

Video done. Now I need some time to upload it into youtube and post it. I was at the mountain cabin for a few days to myself so I had lots of fun and made a few videos.

Good work - it's always fun to just pick-up something that's in your head and run-with-it, and play it "how you hear it" - cool !

Hey - this isn't criticism - just a comment - see on the little phrases "Oh I get by with a little help from my friends" - I can tell you're struggling a little bit with bow direction changes on each note - two suggestions - (1) keep it like that but tighten-up on it with some practice, or (2) play these repeated notes all across one long bow "pulsing the individual notes" - I mean that in the sense of increasing pressure on the strings by adding a "pulsed" downward pressure with the index finger of the bow hand in time with the beats. It's a kind of repeated staccato in the same bow direction - ahhhh - I know where I saw this - it's one of Zlata's - here you go - this is what I'm rambling on about -  -  I use that, or a similar technique quite a bit and find it effective.

Either way - good work !

Thanks Barry, any suggestions above what Bill mentioned? I was using my old student viola that I keep up at the cabin. I can still hear that nasal tone, as I'm sure you can also. Next time north, I'll bring my Fiddlerman's Master Viola for a ride and see how that sounds.

some instruments are just going to sound like they sound. theres a few little things you can do to improve them, but it is what it is. What strings are you using on it ?
