Hi, Violaman,  Can Finale or Sibilius or any other software be used for converting violin sheetmusic?

Hey jojo,

Yes they can. To begin with you need to enter the correct notation. After doing that you just pick the clef tool and it transposes automatically. You may sometimes want to drop it down and octave as well but beware that you don't drop it below the open C.

I use Finale and don't really know how to transpose from Sibelius. Pretty sure it will be easy to do.

Does this mean we can look forward to much more sheet music in the near future?

(hint, hint)[Image Can Not Be Found]

The real magic would be in finding a program that will automatically optimize and note all the correct fingerings, as well. Reading fingering notation feels a little like cheating or like reading guitar tabs.

In that case, can we expect all the violin sheet music at Fiddlerman.com be converted for viola for the benefit of viola players.

(What time zone are you in?)

Eastern time here.

Yes, no problem with doing the sheet-music. Let me know if there is a piece in particular that you want. It would take me time to post them all. First convert then save as PDF, upload and post.

It will come though.

I went through this and found it to be a little confusing. But with practice, it may come handy.  Transposing to a new clef.

It might also help for beginners to study the Viola fingering chart under my VIOLA LEARNING TOOLS menu.
