Playing a double stop in first position using one open string and the index finger on the adjacent string, your index finger should not brush against the open string, is there a best or preferred way of achieving this (given that my index finger is wide enough to both hold down one string and just brush the adjacent string). ?
I can think of three ways of doing this:
1. use the index finger tip off centre on the fingered string to clear the open string (and touch the silent opposite open string instead).
2. give the index finger extra curve so it is bending back into the fingered string from the knuckle on the side opposite the open string (when the open string is higher pitch).
3. use the index finger to push the fingered string slightly away from the open string.
Maybe one way is better or one or more ways is to be avoided ?
There's no one here (I mean in Rødvig in Danmark) I can ask these questions.
