First of all Hello, I have been a member but inactive for 9 years after giving my first Violin to my Brother,
Secondly…
Lord help me I did it….
Someone on Reddit Cello mentioned trying for a monthly payment plan. This pushed me to try for 12 month financed loan and it was approved. For $1,387.26 at $115.61 a month starting on September 15th. And 27.9% interest. I will just add one extra day of 4 hours delivering food a week and I can pay that easily. I can make a few months of payments until tax check comes in then pay it off early thus saving interest. If I do not like the cello it should re-sell easy enough.. Now where did I put my amp cables?
Speaking of Amps I have a Peavey Vypyr VIP-2 12” for Guitar and BASS guitar will this work with an electric cello or do I need a dedicated amp?

Welcome to the forum.
You will love the cello. I find vibrato much easier to do. I love the soulful sound. I love the connection from the way it is help. I am a student and have a lot to learn, and have a violin and viola, too. Of the three, the cello is my favorite.

@EdwardMH Did you purchase an endpin rest to keep the cello from sliding across the floor? I don't think they normally come with a cello, but I could be wrong.
I have this one

I used to use the typical disc with the indent in the middle for the endpin, but found that it still slid, especially on carpets. It also slid on wood or linoleum. It just didn't slide as fast on the wood and linoleum.

You can try it without one. Maybe your carpet pile will do the trick. Often times they do. But, if you find you do need it, since you have carpet, I highly suggest the one I linked you to. It hooks under the chair leg and you adjust it to the length you need. It will not slide away. The others, on a carpet, will, most likely, slip. It did on my carpet.
If you play it on anything other than the carpeted area, you will most likely need one. But, try it without one, if you will only be playing on the carpet. I had an instructor come to my house once, we were just playing together. She forgot her stopper. We had a carpet at the time. Her cello kept slipping. It was weird. I had a good pile on my old carpet, since replaced by wood laminate. So, I guess it depends on a lot of different pieces.

It has arrived YAY!!
I know I am doing everything wrong as this is the first time touching a cello of any kind but since most of my videos tracking my learning will most likely be done with my iPad I thought I would test it.
Can you suggest better solutions? No direct hook ups just the iPad on video sitting on a table. Again ignore the attempted twinkle twinkle little star as it is by ear and probably wrong, I was just excited to hear the cello on my amp.
I am still unsure if I need a special Cello amp.

I can understand that. I hope you can get started soon. Have you found a teacher? I looked back in this thread, but may have missed it. I am thinking you have one lined up that starts in January. You will enjoy it.
I added the last part of this reply. I had glitches and had to stop before I finished the reply.
