well, "La monumental orquesta panamericana", is a mash up of small orchestras in all the state of jalisco, it is about 13 orchestras all together, in total there are like 300 musicians playing in this group in different ages, from 13 years old to i don't know how old are the oldest teachers, I am playing as a 2nd violin that allow me hear all the violas playing near me, in our debut at "el teatro degollado" in Guadalajara we played 12 songs with all the participants and 3 very advance level songs with some of us and the teachers, and now we are working in an other 15 songs for the next presentations, and by the way I am not playing in a professional way, this is my very important hobby

Often people that have a serious hobby such as playing an instrument are more passionate about it than professionals. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Hi! I am new here, to. I started to learn viola about a month or 2 ago and can play a song or 2 kinda. I don't think I'll ever be good enough to play with a orchestra group.

Welcome to the group, Scarecrow!

Don't sell yourself short. Even if you never play professionally, many people play for a local community orchestra, with friends, or even in a local church.

I definitely qualify as a beginner. I've only been at this for about a month, myself. I think Manny and Jojo are probably the most experienced folks here (our esteemed host, notwithstanding[Image Can Not Be Found]).

It's nice to meet you too :) I'm originally from south Louisiana. I'm fairly new to stringed instruments, but already I really enjoy playing. I'm not very good yet, I just hang out in the back yard with the neighbors who do play well :) I have learned one thing about music though--it doesn't matter if you play well or not, as long as you enjoy it!

NO WAY!! I still have family in Gretna!! My mom is originally from old Algiers! I grew up in Baton Rouge and spent a lot of weekends visiting friends and family in New Orleans and my first music teacher was a local jazz musician :)
