My Everest shoulder rest arrived from Fiddlershop.com on Friday.
Being as it was the first shoulder rest I'd ever owned before my son commandeered it for his own viola (when he moved up a size, his previous Kun didn't fit, anymore), I wanted another for myself.
I've also had a Kun Viola shoulder rest, but SOAC managed to lose the original Everest he took from me and took over my replacement, as well ...
Of the two, I think I prefer the Everest, which is built as large and sturdy as the mountain after which it takes its name.
Some might even say "as heavy," as well...
The Kun, while light and well-designed, seems fragile - if only in comparison to the armored-tank build of the Everest.
I also find the Everest shoulder rest to be quicker to adjust to my particular preferences than the Kun, which took a fair amount of fiddling around to get where I wanted it.
Best of all, the Everest is less-expensive than most other shoulder rests of this type.
All in all, quite happy with the new purchase!
Hopefully, I'll get to keep this one ...
