I have seen players with high chin rests and low shoulder rests, and some with low chin rests with high shoulder rests. I have also read about the two different combinations.
I read that if you can use a low shoulder rest and fill in the gap with a high chin rest, that that is the best way. It supposedly makes it easier to bow and easier to finger all 4 strings. This does make sense, however, I have never tested this theory.
What combination do you use? Have you tried both combinations? What did you find between the two options?
I do realize that different body types require different setups, but what do you do and how does it fit your needs?
