Today I added 7 new X-mas pieces, making a total of 9, hopefully in time to impress all your friends and family. Cool Please enjoy. Sorry for lack of fingerings but a solution is to print them out and download the fingering chart found under the Viola Learning Tools menu and write them in. I may do it later if I find some spare time.Wink

Here comes some handy third position exercises for viola. Practice shifting slowly at first. Slide on each finger from first to first, second to second, and third to third and steadily increase tempo for best results.
Try to memorize the feeling of where your hand ends up, either by feeling a guide when reaching the position or by memorizing the feeling in your left elbow when bent the proper amount. Remember to rely strongly on your hearing both in anticipation and arrival to the note.

I added a simple beginner exercise this morning aimed for improving the bow stroke and angle of attack on each string plus bow distribution called 16ths and 8ths on Open Strings. Can be found on the Viola SHEET MUSIC link.

Manny, I have them. They are not in Alto clef though. Is there one in particular that you would want to have uploaded here? I'd have to find time to type it out and transpose to Alto clef and I'm a little busy now before the grand opening of my Fiddlershop.com in January 2012 banana

The store is open now but I have many hours of work ahead of me. If you guys need something in particular please write a note to support@fiddlershop.com or call 954 530 5999
We have many products and list most. We can get products drop shipped when we don't have them here for only an additional $5 on my behalf. I'm very competitive with the prices as well. All the prices are not complete on the site yet but the specials are.

I havent even learned to read violin music well yet. Is there a software that transposes from one clef to another ?

I'm sure there is, but I don't know of it personally. I think Fiddlerman/Violaman has something that works.

I think it would be a useful tool . Barry taught me how to transpose tab to notes, software would have made the job easier Im sure.

transposing from tab to notation isnt as hard LeeAnn, its still in the same clef. I havent looked to hard at alto clef yet until I know im going to play it for sure

Bach : As the greatest expert and judge of harmony, he liked best to play the viola, with appropriate loudness and softness

I suppose you guys would be able to share one instrument too, right?
Would be cool also playing together with two different voices. Viola and Violin fit so well together.
