I was received a gift from a friend of a mother of pearl inlayed finger board, peg, tail piece, chin rest set for viola.

Its at the luthier now being fitted.

A pic of the set can be seen at:

That is really cool John,

Are they going to put that fingerboard on too? How much will they be charging? I look forward to seeing it done nicely with those nice Japanese Maple leaves. ;-)

The fingerboard is going on. While he has got it I'm going to get him to do some other work on it. We both think that the strings are too high over the fingerboard so he will probably adjust the nut and lower the bridge.

He is charging $170 to do it all. I don't know if that is expensive. I don't have much choice, he is the only luthier in the area

If all goes well I'll get a violin set. I have been in contact with the person that makes them in Vietnam and he can do a wide range of inlays. sf-cool

I don't think that $170 sounds unreasonable.
Look forward to seeing pictures and hearing about how it plays.
